Sir Mark Walport will be visiting the University of Oxford on Thursday 12 July. Sir Mark is CEO of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) which operates across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £6 billion. UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK, and a new organisation, Research England (formerly the research arm of HEFCE). UKRI is a key funder of research in the University and also a key player in realising the Industrial Strategy.
Sir Mark will be making a presentation on ‘Priorities for UKRI in ensuring a vibrant research base, which contributes to the UK’s economy and society’ at an open event in the Weston Library Lecture Theatre at 1:45pm, followed by a Q&A. Spaces are limited, so if you would like to attend, please register to ensure you have a seat.
